Description
"Bailey Broom" acrylic on board. This is a painting of the old Bailey Broom factory. It is located on Rideau Street in Kingston, Ontario. It has been abandoned for some time and was slated for demolition as part of a purchase and sale agreement. Due to public outcry over the impending loss of this quirky but quaint little building, a special meeting of council was convened to reconsider the requirement of the vendor to demolish the building. A motion to spare the building was passed. This tiny, odd little industrial building housed a thriving broom manufacturing business, and was designed by William Newlands, a renowned local architect. I painted it in a style inspired by Maurice Utrillo. Enjoy! If you like this, please share on Facebook and other social media. Also please drop me a line or post comments!.
